FAQ
Helpful Information
How can I keep my kitchen knives sharp longer?
There are many things that you can do to help your culinary knives stay sharp longer. First you can use a honing rod. Honing the edge of your knife before each use will help maintain the edge. Don't know how to use one? We can show you! Second, Do not put your culinary knives in the dish washer. By doing this you can cause rust to develop on the edge causing it your knife to dull. I always recommend that you hand wash your knife with hot water and dry it immediately before placing it back in storage
Can't I just use a home sharpener?
You can! But here are some of the issues that I have run into with commercially made home sharpeners. Not all knives are made the same! In fact I promise you your Santoku has a different edge angle than your Chef Knife! Commercially made home sharpeners usually only sharpen at one angle and that wont work for a lot of knives. Also home sharpeners can leave deformities in the blade as many of them will grind away more metal in some areas and none in other areas.
What kinds of blades do you sharpen?
The easier answer is what kind of blades do I not sharpen! Currently I am not sharpening router blades, Wood turning gouges, Large industrial circular saw blades (over 14"), Bandsaw blades, Reel Mowers, or Antique Swords*. Please feel free to contact us for a specific specialty blade and I will be able to assess if we can sharpen it.
